December 2008 Booster Minutes
Attendance: Sandy Sherman, Valerie McNamara, Betsy Hoehl, Lisa Cray, Ed
Hockenbury, Betsy Weischedel, Cheryl Collins, Dawn Grenn, Laurie Valley,
Mike Picard.
There were no requests for funds from Spring sports teams.
The clothing sale at parent/teacher conferences went very well. We sold $2,100 worth of clothing this year as opposed to $1,300 last year.
Lisa is trying to get a catalog on-line. Vermont Sports Images suggested we could actually sell merchandise on line using credit cards. We felt the processing fee would be too high to make it worth while. If we were to sell on line it might be through a group like Boathouse who would sell the merchandise and give us a share of the profits. She is still asking around to find some volunteers to put the new pictures and descriptions on line.
Ed's Report:
-
Budget process has begun. Cuts are possible. He talked with Rob Reardon on ways to cut bussing costs. Floating the idea of parents driving students to games in Chittenden County. Just an idea at this point An example of bus cost: approx $400 for hockey team to go to South Burlington for a game. Discussed possible bus sharing with other schools for tournament type games. Officials fees are going up. Fuel surcharges are coming back down.
-
There are no concessions at hockey games this year. The rink snack bar is run by the CCSU Food Service and they lost money on hockey concessions last year. It has been suggested that more vending machines be put in. Boosters does not see the feasibility of staffing a small snack bar. That would add 18 more events to our concession schedule. Ed said the lobby area might be used for a concession table. We would suggest that hockey parents or Essex Youth Hockey might run a snack table.

We need to pay Sheila Stawinski $1,500 for the winter Captains Training which starts December 3.
