APRIL BOOSTER MINUTES

Attendance:  Lisa Cray, Ed Hockenbury, Betsy Hoehl, Nancy McSoley, Sandy Sherman, Betsy Weischedel, Ross Kelley, Emily Danis, Dawn Grenn

Senior Ross Kelley came to present his eagle scout project and request funding.  He will build three new picnic tables and level the ground in between the grandstand and the hockey rink where fans line the fence and children congregate during games.   Part of this area will be made into a gravel patio and part will be seeded with grass.  He is in need of $367 to fund the remainder of his project.  Friends of Football also suggested a small raised bed for bushes next to the grandstand ramp next to the concession stand.  Construction will take place in May.

Emily Danis, varsity girls lacrosse coach, requested $550 for new JV uniform shirts.  There are more girls on JV than varsity as a rule, so they do not usually pass down varsity uniforms.  The current jv shirts are 10-12 years old and the numbers are dwindling due to wear, injury necessitated destruction, and non-returns.  A new set will cost them about $1050.  They have fund raised $500.

Treasurers report—there is $20,829 in the checking account.  That may not include Lisa’s clothing deposit of $1,300 after the conference sales.

Yearbook is putting together a spring sports supplement that will cost $1,600.  They are looking for $750.  Ed will give them $250, he asked Athletic Leadership Council if they would give $250, and asked if  Boosters would give $250.  It would include pictures of all spring sports teams and would go to everyone who purchases a yearbook.

The Hershey Track Meet, sponsored by the Essex Rec Dept will be July 11th.  We have 8 teams interested in it as a fund raiser.  Betsy will e-mail the teams asking why they would like this as a fund raiser and we will decide which team will get it.  We could also make the girls soccer jamboree concession stand and the wrestling tournament available to one of these teams.  August 29th is the girls soccer jamboree and there may also be a home football scrimmage that day.

Hockey concessions update.  There is a possibility that a cart will be available for hockey game concessions next year.  Boosters would not like to take on the staffing of the 20+ games.  ROTC has expressed an interest in doing this.  Ed will tell them it is okay with us.

Meeting adjourned at 6:30

Next booster meeting, Tuesday, May 5, at 7:30 in C101.
